For all of you who didn’t respond to my Facebook posting yesterday about the extra ticket I had to see Anvil! The Story of Anvil, you missed out.  For all of you who did respond and then didn’t hear back from from me because I didn’t check my Facebook messages until this morning, you missed out too…but that’s my fault.  Apologies.  

The movie was great…sad and hilarious and equal parts inspiration and cautionary tale.  It’s about Canadian metal legend Anvil and their 30 year long attempt to rise from obscurity.  I want to say something like it’s a study of the modern American dream seeker taking passion to the extreme…but they’re Canadian.  Anyway, the moral of the story is shoot for the moon, not because if you’ll miss, you’ll be among the stars, but because if you miss, you’ll be in a photo shoot wearing nothing but Crocs and an electric guitar.  And that’s a mighty fine place to be.
