This week I stopped reading a book 100 pages in.  I’ve always been a “just finish the thing” kind of reader when I’m reading something I don’t like, but this time I decided to put it down and it feels amazingly liberating.  Like after a wedding when you take off an uncomfortable strapless dress that didn’t really fit because it was from six pounds ago and then binge eat the welcome bag of goodies in your hotel room and reflect on how awkward it was to be the only person at the party not invited with a plus one and how you had to three-way dance with the one couple at the party aside from the bride and groom that you knew during the slow songs because no one else would ask you to dance (Not like this has happened to me.  I’m just assuming how liberating it would feel to be done with that situation and then how even more liberating it would feel to decide to skip the brunch the next day.)

Anyway, I’m not going to tell you about the book that I put down, but I am going to tell you about this awesome book that I started instead…Agent Zigzag.  (I know, former colleagues, I should have read this book a long time ago.)  I’m only 50 pages in and loving it.  If you like any of the following, you’re going to love this book…spy stories, history, action, tight writing, books that don’t remind you of awkward evenings in too-tight formal wear.
