Deep thoughts at Costco

This weekend, I discovered what exactly my own personal hell would be…I’m waiting for the mini-quiche samples to come out of the toaster oven at Costco.  But, I don’t want to be obvious about the fact that I’m stalking frozen mini-appetizers, so I stand in front of the freezer, pretending I’m considering purchasing the Cheesecake Factory multi-slice pack for about 15 minutes.  Just as I see the sample lady slip on her oven mitt to remove the quiches, someone from high school whom I haven’t seen since graduation recognizes me and we have a catch up conversation where the phrases “Unemployed” and “Living at home with my parents” come up about 16 times each.  By the time the high school friend is done telling me about how hard her third year in law school is, the samples are all gone and I have to go back to lingering around the frozen food section in wait.  When the next batch is ready, I see another member of the class of 2000 and again miss the samples.  Kind of like a Sisyphus of free samples.
