Went over to the Swahili school down the street to ask about taking a few lessons. Only being able to say thank you and “hakuna matata,” which I’m not even sure is Swahili, isn’t getting me very far here. They had this anti-corruption sign up over the visitors entrance. We don’t have one of these signs at the orphanage and I’m wondering why. Should I be suspicious? I’m sleeping with one eye open, babies. So don’t try and pull anything.
To take just a few classes turned out to be $800, which seemed kind of crazy. But a lot of prices here have been surprising me. For example, cereal costs about $8.50. And it’s Wheatabix! That’s such a sucky cereal. I wouldn’t even want to know how much Lucky Charms costs round these parts. No, that’s a lie. I would want to know and I’d probably wind up paying it too. I miss mini marshmallows big time.
