Back from my three day trip of both working on my t-shirt tan and climbing Mt. Meru.  While I was beyond sucessful with Mission: T-Shirt Tan, I might have fallen a little short with Mission: Meru.  As you can see by the above photo documentation, I only made it to Little Meru, not Big Meru.
What happened was that the night before the final climb to Big Meru, my guide came into my bunk to tell me that he thought it would be smarter to go to Little Meru and skip the steep ascent to Big Meru.  I assumed he wanted to ditch the hardest part of the climb because he thought I was a pussy about uphill hiking.  He actually said it was because the rain (and it was pouring at the time) made it unsafe.  While I don’t know which is true, I do know that I agreed to the shorter climb without any further discussion because I’m a pussy about uphill hiking.
Regardless, Mt. Meru was fantastic.  The hikes were hard, the views were glorious, and the potties were pretty gross.  Just what I wanted from the experience.
